Position Description??

We are building a brand-new research laboratory at the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology¡¯s Mechanical Engineering department. We conduct cutting-edge research in fluid power. A full-time laboratory manager is needed to take care of this laboratory. The manager will set up this laboratory and work on different research projects mainly related to hydraulic systems. Right now, our activities involve a hydraulic excavator and electro-hydraulic drives. Advanced skills in working with hydraulic and electrical components are essential.?

Duties and Responsibilities? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??

• Responsibility of the laboratory¡¯s correct functioning

• Help to organize space in the laboratory and choose essential equipment

• Purchase equipment, tools, and other materials

• Build mechanical structures for the test-beds (cut, drill, and weld metal)

• Install and maintain hydraulic systems??

• Install electric components (motors, batteries, drivers, cabinets, etc.)

• Install sensors and data acquisition systems

• Keep track of the laboratory costs

• Flexibility to work on different research projects

• Required experience: at least 3 years of practical experience with hydraulic and electric components

• Required qualification / academic degree: a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or in a close field, is preferred

Required Job Competencies? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??

• Language ability: basic spoken English for essential communications and ability to read instructions written in English

• Advanced hydraulic skills to understand the functioning of hydraulic components, read hydraulic schematics, and install hydraulic components

• Advanced electrical skills to build cabinets safely, install electric components, and wire sensors

• Good mechanical skills to cut and weld metal and build simple metal structures

• Ability to buy equipment, tools, and other material need for the laboratory
