The 2nd International Symposium on Food and Biotechnology Engineering was Successfully held at GTIIT

±Ê´Ç²õ³Ù°Õ¾±³¾±ð£º7/4/2024

Recently, the 2nd International Symposium on Food and Biotechnology Engineering was held at Guangdong Technion ¨C Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). Experts and scholars from renowned universities around the world gathered to discuss the latest developments in the fields of food engineering, biotechnology, and environmental engineering, aiming to facilitate the sustainable development of these areas.

Prof. David Gershoni, Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, warmly welcomed the arrival of experts and scholars. He said biotechnology and food engineering are closely related to our daily lives and the trend of social development. This conference serves as a bridge connecting scholars from different countries and regions, promoting sustainable prosperity in the field of biology through interdisciplinary exchanges at both domestic and international levels.

This conference has rich agendas, covering topics in microbiome research, fermentation science, nanotechnology, microencapsulation technology, nutritional supplements, food safety, sustainable process engineering, waste conversion and reuse, etc. It is divided into two sessions: environmental biotechnology and food science, as well as nanobiotechnology and medical diagnostics.

 

During the three-day conference, nearly 40 experts from China, Australia, Canada, Greece, Israel, and Singapore shared their research achievements through keynote speeches.

Prof. Ricky Yada from the University of British Columbia gave a keynote speech titled ¡°Anticipating and overcoming food system vulnerabilities in a world beset by climate change, pandemics, and geopolitical strife.¡±

Prof. Gu Ji-Dong from Guangdong Technion ¨C Israel Institute of Technology gave a keynote speech titled ¡°Pendulum of biofilms on N removal in WWTPs and cultural heritage protection.¡±

Prof. Sima Yaron from Technion ¨C Israel Institute of Technology gave a keynote speech titled ¡°Novel technologies and strategies to advance the fight against antimicrobial r±ð²õ¾±²õ³Ù²¹²Ô³¦±ð¡±

Prof. Li Chenzhong from Chinese University of Hongkong (Shenzhen) gave a keynote speech titled ¡°Intelligent biosensing system for digitalized health c²¹°ù±ð¡±


The conference also included a poster session and a 3-minute thesis competition, providing a stage for young researchers to demonstrate their work. Graduate and undergraduate students participated in these activities, presenting their research achievements through posters and presentations. Through their interactions with prominent scholars, the conferenced provided a perfect opportunity to expand their knowledge and global reach.

At the closing ceremony, the Chair, Associate Prof. Olivier Habimana, offered a heartfelt gratitude to all participants. He stated that the conference had been a huge success, bringing together talents and creating a communication platform for professionals and scholars from all over the world, which would help promote significant progress in related fields.
