New Year Greetings from GTIIT 2026

笔辞蝉迟罢颈尘别:2/16/2026

As we saw out the old year to see in the new, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to all the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families of GTIIT as well as to all our partners and friends from all walks of life that have always cared for and supported the development of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT).

In 2025, the entire GTIIT community has steadfastly advanced various initiatives, including faculty and discipline development, academic exchange, talent cultivation, scientific research innovation, and campus construction. From the earnest expectations expressed by the Chinese Ambassador to Israel to the cypress tree planted by the Israeli Ambassador to China as a symbol of friendship, GTIIT has become a key bridge for Sino-Israeli cooperation in science, education, and culture.

Each robust step in the past year carries forward our motto: "Dream it. Do it.".

This year, the international faculty team has been drawing attention with its strength and expertise. 21 GTIIT professors were named on the list of the World's Top 2% Scientists 2025. The number of listed faculty members hit a record high and multiple scholars are listed for four consecutive years. By the end of 2025, the university had published nearly 1,700 papers in international journals, with approximately 80% indexed by SCIE/EI and nearly 15% appearing in top-tier academic journals with an impact factor greater than 10. Over 260 research projects were granted.

This year, GTIIT has forged new highlights in academic exchange and platform construction. GTIIT, as one of its organizers and Secretariat Office of the Nan'ao Science Conference, has been actively engaged in communication for hosting this high-level strategic academic platform. To date, the university has successfully held 27 sessions of Nan'ao Science Conference. In close collaboration with the National Natural Science Foundation of China, GTIIT also co-founded the "Shuangqing-Nan'ao Youth Science Forum". Additionally, GTIIT organized over 170 academic events in 2025, including the 2nd Materials Science Summit-Al Materials, the 3rd International Symposium on Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, and Nanomedicine, and the Symposium on Environmental Sustainability, fostering a dynamic environment of academic vitality and intellectual growth on campus.

This year, GTIIT students have shown vigorous vitality and tremendous growth. Till now, GTIIT has seen over 250 undergraduates participate in or complete nearly 100 research projects under the guidance of their supervisors, with some publishing papers in international journals as first authors or co-authors. In both international and domestic competitions, students of GTIIT have consistently achieved outstanding results—from the China Universities Aircraft Design Competition, the RoboMaster University League (RMUL), the ICPC Asia Regional Contest, the "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" National Foreign Language Contest, and the 8th International Conference on Matter and Radiation at Extremes, to the National Undergraduate Mathematics Competition and the Guangdong College Students Health Literacy Knowledge and Skills Competition… Since their undergraduate years, they have solidified their professional foundation and elevated their learning outcomes through authentic tasks in laboratories and competition arenas.

This year, GTIIT has redefined the limits of talent cultivation. According to preliminary statistics, the undergraduate Class of 2025 has received a total of 377 admission offers from 99 universities and institutions worldwide. These offers include programs from prestigious universities such as Stanford University, Yale University, National University of Singapore, University of Melbourne, and University of Hong Kong. Among all students pursuing further studies, over 40% have been admitted to universities ranked within the global top 10, and approximately 95% to the top 100. Additionally, the cohort has so far received 8 direct admission offers to doctoral programs. Employed graduates have been working in new economy leading firms and technology innovation enterprises, devoting themselves to the high-quality development of the country.

This year, GTIIT enrollment achieved steady progress in both scale and quality, despite a more than 20% year-on-year increase in the admission plan. The university admitted 678 outstanding undergraduate students from 16 provinces (or municipalities) across China, driving the total on-campus student population to exceed 2,000 for the first time.

This year, the industry-university-research collaboration has yielded fruitful results. In the field of intellectual property, 27 patent applications (including 3 PCT international patents) were filed, pushing the total cumulative number of patent applications beyond the milestone of 100. Additionally, five technology-based startups have been incubated, securing millions in funding. GTEC engaged with over a hundred enterprises and organizations, reaching 22 technical cooperation agreements and 3 strategic partnerships. Furthermore, the university launched a flagship collaborative initiative: a 20-million-yuan "NICE-GTIIT Proof-of-Concept Fund" jointly established with National Innovation Center par Excellence (one of China's four major national innovation centers), helping to bridge the "last mile" in translating university scientific research achievements into practical applications.

This year, GTIIT has opened a new chapter in campus construction. With the completion of 13 teaching laboratories in the South Campus, the opening of the Learning Center, the green campus empowered by the photovoltaic corridor, the official installation of the "GTIIT Stone", and the unveiling of the "Four Seasons Garden"... the integrated design of the north and south campuses lays a solid foundation for the sustainable development of GTIIT, offering a warm and inspiring environment where faculty and students can pursue their ambitions.

In 2025, as we stand at the historic juncture marking the centenary of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and the tenth anniversary of GTIIT's founding, we are delighted to witness the fruitful outcomes of collaboration between the two institutions in Sino-Israeli education. The coming year will see us forge ahead with greater determination, embrace challenges with a tenacious spirit of "Chutzpah", and jointly compose a new chapter of high-quality development for GTIIT.

We wish you all a happy, fruitful, and splendid Year of the Horse 2026!
